Description

Design Concept:

One teapot, two tea cups. The decal pattern on the body of the teapot is derived from the works of the famous Chinese painter Ba Da Shan Ren, who was active during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The small chubby bird exudes a simple and elegant yet firm and proud aura. The geometric shape of the teapot body gives it a lively and positive upward trend. The minimalist design of the tea set, combined with the ancient paintings, is a fascinating blend of the past and the present. The teapot can hold enough tea for four servings. The perfect capacity allows the tea to maintain the appropriate temperature and strength. Tea drinking can be a grand affair, worthy of being called the "Tao," or it can be a small pleasure, full of enjoyment.

Little Teapot—Plump Little Bird

ou can not appreciate tea
Without knowing Bada Shanren,
Literally, Mountain Man of the Great Eights.
Plump little bird,
Do you too exist between laughter and tears?

Founded in 1987 by renowned glass artists Loretta H. Yang and Chang Yi, LIULI has grown from a modest workshop in Taiwan to become Asia's leading brand of crystal art. Liuli is a Chinese term from the Han Dynasty for glass art, and was chosen to honor the richness of Chinese heritage and culture. Records show that artisans of the Han Dynasty were highly skilled in lost-wax casting (pâte de verre) but the craft was subsequently lost and forgotten. Yang and Chang revived the craft and reintroduced it to the international arena.

The pioneering LIULI spirit has guided contemporary glass art to new heights. Each piece undergoes a comprehensive twelve-step process and requires six to eight months to complete. LIULI produces a limited number of pieces, so as to foster an environment where our artists are constantly engaged in the creation process and stay relevant to the society we care about.
